The 305 Daiquiri

Recipe by Stephen Palahach, Bartender at Brooklyn’s James Beard Award-winning Maison Premiere

“One of the reasons we turn to Stephen Palahach is for the unique riffs he creates inspired by locale and tradition. He served this version of a Daiquiri at his own South Florida wedding—note the numbers 305, aka the Miami area code. Guatemalan rum plays nicely with the Italian apéritif Aperol for a slightly less boozy, slightly more fruity, and definitely more bitter sipper, ideal for serving poolside the day after the wedding.” —Patrick

  • 1 oz. Ron Zacapa 23
  • 1 oz. Aperol
  • 1 oz. Fresh lime juice
  • 0.75 oz. Simple syrup
  • One whole strawberry

Muddle strawberry. Pour ingredients in a shaker. Add ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with strawberry and/or lime wheel.

Spirits aficionados and brothers Patrick, Peter, and Sean Janelle, together with veteran bartender Maxwell Britten, launched The Liquor Cabinet as the definitive guide to all things boozy. From bottle distillation information to in-depth cocktail histories and creative riff recipes by influential bartenders the world over, The Liquor Cabinet is the ideal app for anyone looking to shake, strain, and sip their own creations. Plus, the newly launched Variations feature shows how it’s possible to create unique recipes, once you’ve got the basics down.
