Entering last week having lost seven of its last eight games, New Berlin West’s baseball team needed a spark as the season crossed its midway point. 

Nick Paget may have provided just that when he launched a walk-off grand slam to help the Vikings to a win over Greendale on June 12.

The blast also propelled New Berlin West to a 4-1 week, improving the Vikings to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the Woodland West.

Nick Paget stepped to the plate with the game on the line and delivered for New Berlin West on June 12, hitting a walk-off grand slam to lead the Vikings to a 5-3 win over Pewaukee.

New Berlin West came back the following day to complete the sweep of the Panthers with a 9-6 victory. 

The Vikings trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh. Nate Miller started the rally with a one-out double but Adam Siegel then lined out for the second out.

Tyler Stoltenburg kept New Berlin West alive with a base hit and T.J. Lukach followed with a single to score Miller to cut it to 3-1. Greendale then turned to closer Griffin Doersching, who walked Mitch Primus to load the bases.

Paget worked the count full before sending a grand slam out to left field to win the game. 

Will Bush worked five innings on the mound for New Berlin West, allowing three earned runs and striking out six. Blaise Spath picked up the win after throwing two scoreless innings of relief. 

A seven-run sixth inning propelled the Vikings on June 13. All seven runs were scored with two outs, as New Berlin West turned a 3-2 deficit into a 9-3 lead. 

Matt Obradovich got things going with a double and Nate Artenian followed with a bunt single. Siegel drove in Obradovich to tie the game and Stoltenburg singled home Artenian to give New Berlin West the lead. Joey Dimotto and Primus added run-scoring singles before Paget and Bush hit consecutive RBI doubles.
