First Quarter: Frankenmuth 7, West Catholic 0
The Frankenmuth defense held West Catholic to two 3-and-outs in the first quarter, while the Eagles’ offense capitalized on its lone possession, scoring on an 8-yard run by Zach Jacobs. Frankenmuith outgained West Catholic, 86-8, with Jacobs gaining 54 yards rushing and completing his lone pass for nine yards.

Second Quarter: Frankenmuth 21, West Catholic 12
Frankenmuth scored the first two touchdowns to build a 21-0 lead, with Zach Jacobs scoring both on 1-yard runs. Kevin Heinzman kicked both extra points. Jacobs led all rushers with 134 yards rushing in the first half. West Catholic came back with two late touchdowns, the first on a 70-yard pass from Gaetano Vallone to Nick Dorata, but the kick was muffed. The Falcons scored just before halftime on a1-yard TD run by Vallone, but Frankenmuth stopped the two-point run. Frankenmuth owned the edge in time of possession, 17:04 to 6:56. Vallone was 5-for-12 for 68 yards. Outside of the touchdown pass, Vallone was 4-for-11 for minus-2 yards.

Third Quarter: Frankenmuth 21, West Catholic 12
Neither team scored in the third quarter, although both moved the ball. West Catholic finished the third quarter with the ball on the Frankenmuth 8-yard line. Zach Jacobs led all rushers through three quarters with 129 yards. Gaetano Vallone led West Catholic with 61 yards rushing and 115 yards passing.

Grand Rapids West Catholic (10-2) vs. Frankenmuth (12-0)
Grand Rapids West Catholic will try to reach Ford Field again, while Frankenmuth hopes to get to the state finals for the first time in school history when the two teams meet in a Division 5 semifinal game.
West Catholic has won the last four Division 5 state titles and heads into Saturday’s semifinal with a 9-2 records, losing to Jackson Lumen Christi and Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Frankenmuth reached the state semifinals for the second consecutive season with a school-record 12 wins.
