Summer is almost here.
Accompanying the sunny weather the rest of the country is so often envious of will be loads of events in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach to keep everyone entertained.
Below are some of the most fairly-priced events going on in both cities this summer.
July 4: Bring your own picnic and lawn chairs for an Independence Day celebration at the OC Fairgrounds. From 4-9:30 p.m. there will be live music, activities and vendors. A pyrotechnic show starts at 9 p.m. Parking is free until 5 p.m.; $8 afterward. 88 Fair Dr.
Movies in the Park: Film screenings in several city parks begin June 28 with the viewing of “The Lego Batman Movie” at TeWinkle Park, 885 Junipero Dr. Information: costamesaca.gov.
Movie Mondays: Free movie Mondays at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts will feature classics like “The Wiz” to the socially conscious “Stand and Deliver.” Projected on the side of the Segerstrom Hall, festivities begin around 5:30, with the films starting at 8 p.m. The first showing is “Breakfast at Tiffany’s on July 10. OC Fair: The 2017 OC Fair will run for 23 days and nights from July 14-Aug. 13 and will feature loads of concerts, carnival games and rides, competitions and exhibits. Information: ocfair.com
Bike sports: The X-Treme Freestyle Moto-X will take place at 8 p.m., July 14, at the OC Fairgrounds. Admission is free with OC Fair admission. Otherwise, tickets are $17.50.
