Bacharach brings back Ability Fair to Stockton University | Pac

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — If you or someone you know is interested in learning about products and services for disabilities, there’s one place next week that will showcase it all.

Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation will host its third Ability Fair at the Stockton University Campus Center on July 26. The free event will feature vendors, technology and services aimed at improving the lives of those with physical and learning disabilities.

Experts and business leaders will answer questions and showcase products such wheelchairs, ramps, home remodeling aids, accessibility features for cars and assistance devices.

Nearly 500 people attended last year’s event, organizers said.

Bacharach announced last month the fall opening of the new James Klinghoffer Neurorecovery Center, which will include advanced robotic technology used to help patients regain mobility. The technology will be displayed at the fair for interested patients.

Event sponsors include South Jersey Gas, Atlantic Medical Imaging Foundation, Brunswick Mobility and Purdy Automotive Group.

Speakers include Bill Quain, a Stockton professor with low vision; Mike Braxton, an Atlantic City police officer, amputee and para-athlete; and Jacquelynn Cowles, a lifestyle blogger born with spinal muscular atrophy.

New to the event will be Cigna’s Health Improvement Tour. The insurer will do health assessments for fair attendees, and Bacharach audiology doctors will offer hearing screenings.

Pediatric vendors, including Bayada Pediatrics, Faces4Autism and Weisman Rehab, also will be at the event. R82Convaid will have several wheelchairs for children on display. Fairgoers can check out communication devices from Tobii Dynavox and GPS tracking devices from KidsConnect.
